A Body of Work

Sorry to interrupt your regularly scheduled broadcast of Jill Quotes, but I have to tell you something. Well, a few things.

One is that I was thinking of splitting the JQ into it’s own blog, and bringing this one back to it’s true intent of filling the world with bad poetry. Just a thought at this point. Actually, now that I think of it more, perhaps the JQ should have it’s own Facebook page, because most people respond to the quotes on Facebook. Hmmm. Lots to noodle on here. Of course, you can leave your comments or drop me a line to let me know your thoughts.

The other ties back to the poetry. You all may know Marilyn Stevens and her wonderful artwork and site and blog and our on again off again collaboration.

Several months ago Marilyn said she was working on a new body of work. “Transparency” she said, the body of work is about “transparency”.

I chewed on it and scratched some things out and sent this along:

transparency
is doing nothing
at all, except for
standing still
on the median
of a busy road,
telling your friends
on the corner
whatever they want
to hear

Which she turned into this lovely piece that will hang at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts during their “Foot in the Door 4″ show.

Marilyn Stevens & Zac Stafford

So I raise my glass to this new body of work, and our continued collaboration–hopefully I will see you all on Feb 18th at the MIA?

I like the Jill quotes. They make me laugh then cry then laugh again. So much wisdom.
